First, it the gentlemen you saw with the funny question mark suit on late night TV, on the infomercials. His name is Mathew Lesko. Mathew Lesko was and is the King of Government Information. It was only a matter of time when others would get into the act, taking some of the market. This firm had bigger pockets and offered FREE seminars. The NGC put ads all over the country, even in my small town of Erie PA. The headlines of the ads: "Why is the U.S. Government Giving away $316 Billion Dollars?" The sub headline is the killer: "Can you qualify to get your share?"
I did not go to the seminar because I was teaching school at the same time the seminar took place in downtown Erie, PA. However, several of my former and current students attended. They were mad. The seminar people did give several information booklets out to all attendants that wanted them. But the real meat and potatoes were going to cost $800.
I am sure some people bought the information. However, none of my students could afford the $800.
The truth is this information free. The trouble is you do not know how to get it.

Now you can get all this information and more free at your public library. There is a book that both Lesko and NCG use to secure this information. Their stuff is usually out of date when you get it. The book the library has is an updated series received every 6 months. The book is: "Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance"
The toll free numbers to get you started: Discovering toll free numbers: 1-800-555-1212. This number is very helpful. The people here helped me find some possible tax client lists. And the lists paid for itself 300% with just one sale. That is a winner. This number is for the Federal Information Center: 1-800-688-9899.
